Ecotopia was born from a dream: to create a place where humans can reconnect with what truly matters – nature, oneself and others. Located in the heart of the Colombian Sierra Nevada, our 27-hectare eco-place offers an authentic, responsible and transformative experience.
We founded Ecotopia with the conviction that tourism can be a positive force for change, both for travelers and for local communities and the environment. Every aspect of our project is designed to honor and preserve this exceptional territory that indigenous peoples call the “heart of the world”.
My name is Laurène, and the story of Ecotopia is intimately linked to my own journey. For more than ten years, I traveled across South America, involved in projects of solidarity and environmental protection. From Peru to Paraguay, I coordinated actions for reforestation, the development of indigenous communities, child protection, and wildlife conservation. I trained leaders of local NGOs, supported field projects, and modestly contributed to initiatives that aim to make our world a little more supportive and respectful of life.
But over the years, an inner calling grew stronger: that of simplicity, nature, and genuine connection with others. I aspired to a life aligned with my deep values, made of authentic sharing, reconnection with oneself, others and the Earth.
This is how Ecotopia was born: a heartfelt project that brings together everything that drives me. Here, I offer eco-solidarity journeys woven around shared passions — singing, dance, yoga, free expression, … — and rooted in respect for people and the environment. I want each stay to be an invitation to slow down, to learn, to live together, to discover meaningful places, and to contribute to positive local initiatives.
My dream is to create bridges between worlds, to offer spaces where people can reconnect, be inspired, and plant seeds of inner and collective change.

Energy autonomy
Our site operates thanks to solar panels, solar water heaters and a micro-hydroelectric plant. We use bioclimatic techniques that reduce our consumption while maintaining optimal comfort.
Bioconstruction
Our eco-lodges are built with local materials (bamboo, cob, plant fibers) using ancestral techniques improved by contemporary knowledge, creating habitats that are both aesthetic and environmentally respectful.
Regenerative agriculture
Our permaculture garden provides fresh vegetables for our meals. We practice composting, use natural fertilizers and plant complementary species to promote biodiversity.
Active reforestation
We work on restoring ecological corridors allowing monkeys and other local species to move freely in their natural habitat.

Located at 1400 meters altitude, the site offers you a breathtaking view of the Sierra Nevada mountain. Nicknamed the “heart of the world” by indigenous peoples, it is the only mountain in the world to reach such heights by the sea (6000 meters). The feminine (water) and the masculine (mountain) then meet with intensity to offer us splendid landscapes and energies. Just 2 hours from the Caribbean Sea, it is a tropical mountain that will welcome you, where the warmth of the coast blends with the softness of mountain breezes. Hikes are offered on the site where you can enjoy the calm of the mountain, admire magnificent views while exercising.
A lush environment invites you to recharge in the shade of exotic forests surrounding streams and waterfalls. Pick your mangoes, papayas, guavas and watch toucans and parrots fly above you or come to eat some fruit. Many butterflies will accompany your walks and with a bit of luck, you may encounter an armadillo, an ocelot, or a monkey. The latter also regularly offer us an extraordinary sound show (howler monkeys). We are also part of one of the most visited sites in Colombia by ornithologists for the diversity of birds found in our forests.
The place is the fortunate guardian of 3 watercourses. The significant elevation of the terrain has shaped magnificent cascading waterfalls throughout the property. Surrounded by lush vegetation, these waterfalls offer natural pools where you can swim in an exceptional setting. From their refreshing waters, you can observe the surrounding nature or enjoy the breathtaking view of the Sierra Nevada. Finally, the purity of the water allows it to be consumed. We are therefore not connected to the network but benefit from extraordinary mineral water.
